[MP] Rise to the Challenge

Posted on Tuesday February 21st, 2012 @ 4:23pm by Petty Officer, 1st Class Anya Elders & Lieutenant Joseph Fitzpatrick

Episode: Crucible of the Gods
Location: Battlestar Zeus Hanger Deck
Timeline: Mission day 6 10H00

Joseph entered the hanger deck. Medics were every where, carrying away cadets, and instructors alike. Joseph asked one medic where was the Senior enlisted. When the medic pointed he saw a young woman with confidence in her eyes. Joseph walked up to her and said, "Petty Officer."

Anya turned around to see a Lieutenant in his duty blues in front of her. "Petty Officer Anya Elders sir. What can I do you for?"

Joseph could tell the Petty Officer was in charge here. Elders, Im the new XO Joseph Fitzpatrick. The CO wants to know how badly our planes were hit." Joseph looked around and noticed the hanger deck was in regular motion. He nodded at the work taking place.

"I've temporarily stopped the repair operations on the Viper Mark Sevens and the Raptors sir. The Acting CAG wants to get a group of birds in the air but the ones working in top conditions are the Mark Twos... My deckgang is currently busy loading them up with fuel and ammo. I'm just about to start the inspection on the ones that have been deemed ready to go..." Anya said as she gestured the XO to follow her as she explained what was going on.

"After you," he said then followed her as she stridded the deck. "How many casualties did you take Elders?"

"We lost most if the Hangar Deck senior staff... It's just me and these young deckhands.". Anya explained and called out to one of the deckhands. "You're doing great! Let me know once you're done with refueling..."

Joseph nodded. at the same time. He was going to inform Christof on their loss. "Ya well we've lost a bunch of good people. We are all going t have to step up now though. This isn't class any more. Now how many Raptors do we have still operational? The CO wants some recon raptors ready to go."

"Well, we still have a full squadron of working raptors... But it's a mix of both older and newer models, sir... They are next on our list... So that will probably happen just after we're done with the Mark Twos!" Anya said, explaining the current situation. She certainly hoped that the new XO wasn't asking her to perform a miracle with such a group of inexperienced cadets!

Joseph looked at the Petty Officer, "As long as we have some, and I realize the man power you have im not asking any miracles, i just need to know how much we have okay, Elders?"

"Of course sir, I understand." Anya looked at XO.

Joseph nodded, "Now how are you on Munitions?"

"We're down to the bare basics sir. May I ask why sir?"

Joseph pulled his munitions report and glanced at it, "We're tight on munitions right now, so we can't waste any type of munitions or missles. Also how can we arm the Raptors?"

"Well, we can mount gun turrets on the Raptors sir.. Although, that would end up making them bulky Vipers... However, if need be, we can also mount them with missile turrets... So they can be support for Vipers in case of bigger game..."

Joseph looked at Elders, "We should arm them with one cannon and a missle turret. Can this be done Elders?"

"Yes, sir. It can be done. These kids might be green but they are good hard workers..." Anya said, nodding. "But as I said sir, we can only do this once we have all Mark Twos loaded and refueled."

Joseph nodded again, "Very well I will inform the CO. Nice job, Elders. Keep up the good work."

"Thank you, sir." Anya said with a nod. "If there's anything else, I'd like to go back to my inspections, sir."

Joseph nodded to the new Deck Chief, "Carry on Petty Officer." He turned and walked out of the Hanger Deck. He hoped Elders could rise to the challenge.
